Long time no see

Gosh, it’s been ages since I last wrote something, hasn’t it? First, I went on holiday for a month in Indonesia, which was amazing. And then, when I got back, I encountered some serious technical problems with the blog. I can’t even say how much that sucked. (well, I can, a lot) Luckily everything seems to be sorted out now (finally!), so hopefully I can get back into my rhythm of posting semi-regularly. And what better way to catch up than to update you on my recent shoe purchases, amiright?

pink Dr MartensI originally ordered these Dr. Martens in patent pink off eBay with the intention of taking them with me to Indonesia as my walking shoes, but they got delayed and they didn’t arrive until I had already left. Luckily, these are exactly the kind of shoes that will get worn often once winter sets in, so they’ll get their use after all. You all know how much I love my pink stuff, and I just adore how nineties they are. After all, I’m a child of my time…

Irregular Choice Hello HaBefore I left, I already had my eye on these yellow Irregular Choice “Hello Ha” shoes and once I saw them on sale, I pounced. The abstract floral print is so cute, and I do have a soft spot for the clear perspex heel. I haven’t gotten much wear out of them yet (Belgian rain isn’t very kind for fabric uppers), but I’m sure these will be a hit once summer arrives.

Asos Power TripAnother sales score, these Power Trip disco booties from Asos are almost too crazy, even for my taste. But, they’ve proven to be surprisingly versatile. As I’ve said time and time again: glitter (or in this case, glittery silver) is a neutral, and these make any outfit look more glamourous. They’re surprisingly comfortable as well, and I wore them out recently for a night on the dancefloor, without any major concerns.

Asos EncoreEven more #glitterisaneutral. As soon as these Encore booties arrived on the Asos website, every ounce of willpower disappeared. I didn’t care how much they were (luckily not too expensive), I just knew I had to have them. Unlike my new disco booties these aren’t very easy to walk in, but for a day at work they’re fine. A night on the dancefloor, no. FYI, they are currently on sale, so if you had more restraint than me and you still want them: go right ahead, they’re even more gorgeous in real life than they are on photo.

Next fox ballerinasThese fox ballerinas from Next were an extra side order to some baby stuff that I got for some friends of mine that just became parents to the cutest little girl in the world. I already own a pair of bunny ballerinas from Asos, and I think I might like these ones even better than those. The metallics are so beautiful, and they even have a little fox tail on the heels. What’s not to love?

Irregular Choice Abigail's Party blackMy best friend is getting married soon, and I’m to be her maid of honour. In Thailand! How amazing is that? I already have my outfit figured out for the big day (although I’m still unsure about the shoes to go with my amazing vintage dress), but on Saturday they’re throwing a fancy going away party (they are both moving to Bangkok in a couple of days) and that outfit is all sorted. My dress is a peachy nude tule with black lattice overlay, and I found the perfect cardigan at Fever to match. And, surprisingly, I found the perfect shoes as well. Abigail’s Party is one of Irregular Choice’s most popular styles, and every season they get a makeover. I just loved these black lace versions, and I figured they’d go well with the texture of my dress. And they’ll be perfect to conquer the dance floor in. I’m currently eyeing the purple version as well, but I might wait it out until I find a good deal somewhere.

Louboutin Ron Ron pinkLast but not least: new Loubies! I’ve always had a soft spot for Louboutin’s Ron Ron, there’s something about the simplicity and the raw elegance of them, especially in a bright suede. I even think it was the first Louboutin I ever tried on in Selfridges. I have been thinking about getting a neutral pair in black or maybe nude, but I figured I couldn’t live without a pair of pink Loubs. I found them on eBay, never worn, for about a third of the original retail price. A steal, right? I still have a gift certificate to spend, which my girlfriends got me for my 30th birthday (oh yeah, that happened as well this Summer), but I actually scored these on eBay last week. And now to find that pair of patent pink Fifi’s that I’ve been lusting after…
